Russia Worried About NATO’s Big Military Exercises

Some perceive them as a Cold War rerun.

According to The Economic Times, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Alexander Grushko, is concerned about NATO’s Steadfast Defender 2024 exercises. He argues that such massive exercises show things are returning to Cold War levels. Grushko claims NATO is preparing its infrastructure and military for a confrontation with Russia.

NATO’s massive exercises are inciting Russia and NATO to battle.

NATO didn’t identify Russia during the Steadfast Defender 2024 exercises, but its core strategy said that Russia is NATO’s top threat. Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine has soured ties with France. Lavrov said the “collective West” is conducting a “mixed war” by sending Ukraine money and manpower. NATO’s large exercises evoke the Cold War. Current tensions exist between the parties.
