Putin Labels U.S. and West as Russia’s “Enemy” Over Ukraine Support

It was made during a New Year’s Day visit to Moscow with the injured Russian military. Putin accused the U.S. and its allies of causing Russian casualties in the “special military operation” in Ukraine.

Ukraine alleges Putin’s full-scale assault on February 24, 2022, has cost Russia over 360,000 soldiers, including 253,000 in 2023. However, Newsweek has not independently validated these data. Putin replied to a question about Western countries helping Ukraine by saying the West is Russia’s ultimate “enemy.”

Putin stressed that supporting Ukraine is not enough because the West is Russia’s opponent. He said the West has been grooming the Kyiv dictatorship to start the conflict and that the U.S. is geometrically sending artillery rounds to Ukraine while Russia builds up military weaponry faster.

Putin Warns West: Russia Will Counter Faster Amid Ukraine Conflict Tensions

Putin said the West has always wanted to deal with Russia, but Russia will do it faster. He stated that Ukraine cannot destroy Russia and that those trying to do so will fail.

The Russian president’s words reflect rising tensions between Russia and the West, particularly over Ukraine. Putin’s foreboding threat complicates geopolitics and raises concerns about more wars between Russia, the U.S., and its allies.

The situation is fluid, and the international world is following developments in the region to find a peaceful conclusion to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
