During the recent Farmfest in Redwood Falls, farmers had brought up SNAP Benefits Retention to the U.S. House Committee members. The farmers highlighted the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP Benefits Retention during the event and urged Lawmakers to support farmers in their endeavors.

SNAP benefits is a federal program sometimes known as EBT which gives people monthly money to spend on the food. In 2022, around 41 million people used SNAP subsidies to buy food making this the biggest initiative to combat hunger in America.
“We need a farm bill that will strengthen and modernize the SNAP component” the Second Harvest Heartland CEO Allison O’Toole said in an interview from KRWC.

SNAP Benefits Retention And Crop Insurance During Farmfest
The topic for SNAP Benefits Retention was brought up during the listening session of U.S. House Agriculture Committee members at Farmfest Wednesday.
Several topics were discussed including crop insurance. A report from KFGO revealed that President Richard Syverson from Minnesota Corn Growers Association said that Crop insurance is the foundation of the farm safety net.
