While some states continue to provide financial assistance in the form of a single payment, tax refunds, tax credits, wealth-sharing funds, and state income tax reductions, the federal stimulus funds that were provided to American households in the aftermath of the COVID-19 outbreak have finished. In certain situations, you can receive hundreds of dollars in financial relief, while in others, you’ll just get a greater tax refund. Here are some examples of state tax relief and stimulus initiatives that could increase your take-home pay.

The State of California Franchise Tax Board reports that under this program, families who qualify are going to get at least $200 as well as much as $1,050 based on their California adjusted gross revenue, filing status, and if they have a dependent. Gov. Greg Gianforte of Montana enacted 3 state House bills to offer tax refunds to qualified Montana taxpayers. Individual income taxes submitted in the fiscal year 2021 are eligible for reimbursement under House Bill 192. Taxes on property paid in the tax years 2023 and 2022 are eligible for a rebate under House Bills 222 and 816.


Eligible people and their families may be eligible to get up to $1,200 back. By December 31, 2023, you can apply for the credit. You’ll need a copy of your latest federal revenue return, the Social Security number, or individual taxpayer identity number, your place of residence, and personal details like your date of birth, spouse’s name, and children’s names.

Based on the Tax Foundation, income tax rates will be lower this year as well as next year for individuals in 22 states than they were last year. The following states have either permanently lowered or temporarily lowered their top effective tax rate: The following states are included in this list: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Utah, and West Virginia.
