In the tragic hit-and-run that caused the driver of a stalled automobile to be ejected, a man gets prosecuted. Around 5:15 on Sunday morning, Arlington police were alerted to a hit-and-run accident in the 3600 block of S SH 360.

What Happened?

The 2012 Toyota Yaris is thought to have stalled in the outside lane of the roadway, according to the report. When a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado hit it while it was facing south, the Toyota’s 33-year-old driver was ejected from the vehicle.

According to the complaint, the Chevrolet drove off without stopping, but an unrelated, off-duty police officer followed the vehicle. Later, Mansfield police detained the truck driver.

Elias Guzman Aranada, the Chevrolet’s driver, was taken into custody by Arlington police. He faces charges of driving while intoxicated manslaughter and failing to stop and render aid.

The Toyota’s driver was declared deceased at the spot. Once the deceased’s next of kin have been informed, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine their identity.
