Texas State House Bill 1 also known as the General Appropriations Bill was presented by State’s House of Representatives back in April. After passing the legislative process, it had been approved by the State Governor, Governor Abbot.

Texas State House Bill 1
The bill will take effect on September 1, 2023 until the 89th Texas Legislature convenes in 2025.
In a report, some of the fund for the Texas State House Bill 1 will be distributed to Texas University and its five component schools.

Texas State House Bill 1: “Transformational Investment” To Higher Education
The initiative had received a positive-feedback from different recipients. For instance, the president of Texas Tech university, Mr. Lawrence Schovanec shared that the initiative showed how Texas lawmakers are geared towards “transformational investment” to higher education.
He also added that fund will surely help develop the nation’s research enterprise. With this, according to him, research will most likely lead to greater innovation, economic development and federal investment.
