More than 2,000 students’ outstanding debts to Texas Southern University were waived, according to the university’s administration. The Texas Student Loan Forgiveness initially proposed by the administration now starting its way to student’s debt accounts.

In a report from Defend the network, the matriculation of more than 900 students who had started registering for the fall 2023 semester can now proceed without financial holds. Additionally, another 879 students had their outstanding amounts dismissed by the university, removing any financial obstacles to their registration for the next autumn semester.
The Texas Student Loan Forgiveness initiative were funded through the government Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund where. $2.3 million was used to have the student debt cancelled.

Texas Student Loan Forgiveness To Benefit Over 2,000 Students
Texas Southern University released an announcement that Students with unpaid balances for the fall 2022, spring 2023, and summer 2023 semesters qualified for the Texas Student Loan Forgiveness.
More than 200 students completed courses during the course of the previous academic year in addition to the present students whose balances were discharged. They may now get their degrees and official transcripts because their balances have been paid off.
