The Gunman From Central Texas Purchased The Firearm Through A Private Sale

The man who is suspected of going on a shooting rampage in central Austin last week is the subject of more and more information. Shane James Jr. is charged with six counts of murder and three counts of injury, two of which involve police officers.

What Happened?

According to Austin police, he purchased the firearm from a private seller in July 2022. Ten charges total against the 34-year-old, including four counts of capital murder and first-degree felonies for aggravated assault on a public servant and mass shooting.

They claim that if James had gone to a gun store to purchase a weapon, a background check would have shown his history of domestic abuse and unpaid warrant.However, as the firearm was purchased in private, no background check was necessary. The assaults’ motivation remains a mystery.
