The Restaurant Owner Remarks, “It’s Shocking” That Three Employees Escaped The Hotel Explosion

The Japanese eatery Musume, located in the Sandman Hotel’s basement, is a member of Josh Babb’s North Texas restaurant group.

Babb says the folks at his restaurant are “so grateful” and “so shaken!”Babb talked over the phone with the I-Team as he was told not to speak on camera while the inquiry was underway.

What Happened?

Since 2007, Babb has operated in what he described as a “family-run business”. Nine restaurants in North Texas are owned by him, one of which is the original Musume in downtown Dallas.

He has spent much of the previous two days at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where he checked on three employees who were getting ready for the dinner crowd at the time of the explosion. He has spent some time at his Dallas facility as well. Luckily, the restaurant was closed, so there were just three staff members working at the hotel.

Two of those workers, according to Babb, are now discharged from the hospital and back home; the other, a woman who had burns and a broken rib, is still in the hospital but her status is stable.

Thankful To Police And Fire Rescues

Babb claims that his staff members have a deep bond. Their concern is what went wrong. Babb said he is concentrating on the families and the investigation, despite the fact that there is a lot of speculation. He has dedicated a significant portion of the afternoon to retrieving their personal items, including laptops, backpacks, and cell phones, from the debris.

He promises to personally phone each of the more than forty employees of the Fort Worth Musume throughout the course of the day. All of them will be transferred to one of his other neighborhood eateries.

“Of course, we are doing everything possible to assist the professionals as they investigate the cause as well as working with everyone on our team to ensure they’re ok.”

Babb claims to be the owner of a small chain of restaurants. Six months ago, it opened the Fort Worth location of the original Dallas-based restaurant in collaboration with the Sandman Hotel.

“We are thankful for the organized professional response from the City of Fort Worth, fire rescue, police and other responding agencies.”
