This academic year, a different school district in North Texas will follow suit and ban backpacks. Dallas and Mesquite ISDs also decided to ban bags.
To Use Transparent Backpacks
Duncanville Independent School advises pupils to use mesh or transparent backpacks for the upcoming fall semester. As part of the district’s safety requirements, transparent and mesh backpacks will be necessary throughout the next spring semester.
All pupils, from kindergarten through the 12th grade, must adhere to the advice and the subsequent demand. According to the district, the phased rollout provides parents and children time to be ready.
The Necessities To Carry
The only personal goods that students are permitted to carry in their bags are a tiny, opaque pouch for holding cash, smartphones, and toiletries. In accordance with school security policies, anything in non-clear bags, such as handbags, athletic bags, or instrument cases, may be searched.
The district stated that it understands that transparent bags might not completely eliminate all safety issues or prevent the entry of forbidden objects, and that the new regulation “is part of a broader approach to enhance student and staff safety.”
