These States Will Receive Stimulus Payments in August 2023

Federal stimulus grants that were given out in 2020 and 2021 at the highest point of the COVID-19 epidemic are now only a distant memory in 2023 when the pandemic emergency has passed. To further assist households, numerous states announced their tax breaks and other stimulus plans. A few states are still releasing payments even though the majority of the filing deadlines for state-issued stimulus funding have passed and the majority of the funds have been allocated. They either recently approved fresh stimulus packages or haven’t yet distributed all of the money they were granted, which explains why. Here is a list of the states that will still be receiving stimulus funds in August 2023.

Stimulus Payments For Idaho

Tax refunds and “Special Session Rebates” were given out by Idaho in March as well as September of 2022. The State Tax Commission reports that the majority of the 2022 refund payments have already been made, while the organization continues to send more when eligible people file their taxes and become eligible. The Where’s My Rebate service at tax.idaho.gov/rebate allows you to keep track of the progress of your rebates.

Illinois

The deadline for submitting information to be eligible for the Illinois Income Tax Rebate & Property Tax Rebate was October 17, 2022, as per the Department of Revenue of Illinois. The majority of such payments are already in place. However, according to the state comptroller, payouts will keep going until all have been made.

Massachusetts

In November 2022, Massachusetts started issuing state tax refunds; at this point, the payments are essentially done. A 14.0312% refund of the Massachusetts state tax owed for 2021 was due to eligible filers. However, according to Mass.gov, if you haven’t already submitted your 2021 return, you can still qualify if you do so by September 15, 2023. If you are entitled to one, you ought to get it approximately a month after filing.

Montana

Montana residents may be eligible for a property tax credit of up to $675 and/or an income tax credit equivalent to the lesser of their state tax liability or $2,500 for those filing jointly ($1,250 for the other classes). As per the Business & Income Tax Division of Montana, the state started issuing individual income tax rebates in July 2023. By December 31, 2023, all of these rebates will have been paid out in the sequence that they were filed. Beginning on August 15, 2023, taxpayers can submit a paper form or submit an online claim for the property tax reimbursement for the year 2022 through the agency’s TransAction Portal. It must be submitted by October 1, 2023. On August 15, 2024, the state will start taking requests for the 2023 rebate; claims must be submitted by October 1 of the same year.

New Mexico

In 2023, New Mexico will provide people with two different sorts of rebates: one for people who must submit tax returns and one for people who are exempt from doing so. For joint filers, the income refund is $1,000; for single filers & married individuals filing separately, it is $500. The Department of Taxation & Revenue of New Mexico states that eligible residents have until May 31, 2024, to file their 2021 personal income tax return. For New Mexicans who don’t qualify for the aforementioned refunds, relief funds of $500 or even $1,000 are being given out. These payments total $15 million in total, and they were allocated according to an application procedure with the Department of Human Services.
