In a harrowing incident that unfolded at a Walmart parking lot in Lincolnton, North Carolina, six migrant workers were struck by a black SUV in what authorities believe to be an intentional hit-and-run. According to reports, the distressing event occurred on Sunday afternoon, prompting a swift response from local law enforcement. According to a press release issued by the Lincolnton Police Department, the SUV deliberately struck the victims before fleeing the scene, leaving them injured and in need of immediate medical attention.
The shocking act of violence was captured on surveillance footage, which was later released by the police. In the video, the SUV is seen pulling into a parking space before suddenly accelerating and careening over a curb, directly targeting the unsuspecting workers. The victims, identified as Jose Calderon, 21; Luis Alcantar, 21; Zalapa Hermosillo, 27; Jorge Lopez, 33; Omar Cordova, 34; and Santiago Baltazar, 35, hailing from El Salvador, Mexico, and potentially another country, were rushed to Atrium Health-Lincoln Hospital for treatment of their various injuries. On Monday night, they took a person of interest into custody for questioning. However, the police have not yet disclosed the identity of the suspect. According to the reports, law enforcement officials provided a description of the suspect, describing him as a White male.
