A report from UPI revealed that certain locations along the southern border between the two nations have breached by Ukrainian, breaking though the first line of Russian resistance. This is based on the statement of Mark Milley, the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The U.S. chief described that the Ukrainian military on counteroffensive against Russia is still far too early to declare if efforts were successful or not since he also noticed that the counter offense were slower compared to the expected time frame.

In a report from Kyiv Independent, the Ukrainian military on counteroffensive against Russia has started on August 4 where the troops had moved past the Russian first line of defense and into a “intermediate one” in several locations on the southern front line.
Although there are limited specifics that can be shared because the operation is still in progress, the success of it demonstrates that Ukrainian military forces can also reach the peninsula.
