The suggested Social Security Expansion Act aims to provide extra financial help by giving an extra $200 a month to people who are already getting Social Security payments or who will be 62 years old in 2023. People with disabilities, low-income families, and seniors will all get stimulus checks through this act. The qualifying requirements for each group will be set by the state government. People whose adjusted gross incomes (AGI) are up to $75,000 for people and $150,000 for married couples reporting jointly are eligible for help. Heads of families are eligible for $112,000. Veterans, people aged 65 and up, and people who already get social benefits will get the boost gift immediately, without having to do anything. Importantly, the Fourth Stimulus Check is available to anyone in the family with a Social Security number (SSN). This includes children who have an SSN, even if their parents are not qualified but have Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs).

States that have agreed to get more help

As a reaction to the continued COVID-19 problems, states are starting a wide range of financial aid programs. Arizona gives $2,000 a year to people who are going back to work, and California gives one-time checks of $600 to $1,200 to people who make less than $75,000 a year. People who recently got unemployment benefits in Colorado get $375, and people who recently got jobless benefits in Maine get $285 in disaster relief and $850 in support checks. For people and families in Maryland who filed an Earned Income Tax Credit in 2019, $500 will be given to them. The state of Missouri gives $250 to help mental health workers, care homes, and prisons. New Mexico gives low-income groups a one-time check for $750 that doesn’t meet the requirements of the government aid package. New York gives people who lost their jobs because of the pandemic one-time payments of $3,200 to $15,600. The Hazard Pay Grant Program in Vermont gives $1,200 to $2,000 to field workers to help them do their jobs. These steps are examples of state-level efforts to deal with the many effects of the current problem.
