Up to $975 Direct Payments Available
The direct payments are aimed at assisting low-income elderly or disabled individuals who are struggling with property tax or rent payments, U.S. Sun reported.
The maximum standard rebate available is $650, but some homeowners may qualify for supplemental rebates of up to $975. The distribution of $140 million is made possible by the American Rescue Plan Act.
The direct payments began on July 1, and eligible residents can expect to receive their direct payments within four to six weeks from the claim date, either through mailed checks or direct deposits.

Who Qualifies for the Direct Payments?
To qualify for the direct payments rebate, residents must meet certain criteria. They must be 65 years or older, a widow or widower aged 50 or older, or a resident with a disability who is at least 18 years old.
The income limit for homeowners is $35,000 per year, while renters have an annual income limit of $15,000. Half of the Social Security income is excluded from the income cap.
Residents have until December 31 to file their claims online at revenue.pa.gov. It’s crucial to take advantage of this opportunity before the deadline to ensure the receipt of the property tax and rent relief rebate.
