A 32-year-old West Virginia mother has been indicted on two criminal charges for the alleged fatal stabbing of her 3-month-old daughter using a butcher knife, True Crime Daily reported.

West Virginia Mother Allegedly Killed 3-Month-Old Baby
On December 30, 2022, at approximately 8 a.m., Lewis County deputies responded to an apartment complex following a distressing call reporting “blood all over the apartment”, according to a criminal complaint cited by WBOY-TV.
Upon arrival deputies were confronted with a heart-wrenching scene—a woman kneeling in front of a couch, cradling a lifeless infant in her arms. Law enforcement officials discovered a butcher knife.
Paramedics swiftly transported West Virginia mother Krista Brunecz and her child to a nearby hospital, but the child was pronounced dead upon arrival.
In subsequent questioning, West Virginia mother Brunecz allegedly admitted to the officials that she had “stabbed her baby and then herself,” providing a chilling glimpse into the horrifying events that unfolded that morning.
The 3-month-old victim’s clothing exhibited “several holes in the shirt and chest area,” consistent with wounds caused by a knife. An autopsy report later confirmed the devastating injuries sustained by the child, revealing multiple stab wounds to her lungs and heart as the cause of death.
Reportedly, West Virginia mother Brunecz had allegedly sent a distressing photo to her mother showing herself covered in blood and holding the lifeless victim. The chilling image serves as a haunting reminder of the unimaginable tragedy that occurred.
