Anchorage, Alaska’s Most populous City Listed First In Most Dangerous Cities In Alaska

Alaska’s most populous city, Anchorage, with a population of 288,121 (2021), is first on this list of Most Dangerous Cities In Alaska. Anchorage also known as the Last frontier, is infamous for its high level of violent and property crime, as well as aggravated assault.

According to Southwest Journal , a total of 3,472 violent crime cases, which is 50% more than the state norm, and 2,338 of property crimes were reported in 2021 alone.

Anchorage ranked 4th in terms of violent crimes and 2nd in property crimes. This puts the City on top of the list of Most Dangerous Cities In Alaska.

Juneau And Bethel Ranks Second And Third In The Most Dangerous Cities In Alaska List

The second on the list of Most Dangerous Cities In Alaska is the State Capital, Juneau. According to RoadSnacks , This is not Juneau’s first time on the list of Most Dangerous Cities In Alaska as the State Capital has been on the Most Dangerous Cities In Alaska list since 2015. Juneau, with its 31,973 residents has an average violent crime rate of 8.69 per 100k people. The property crime of Juneau also soars at about 25% higher than the rest of Alaska.

Last on the list of Most Dangerous Cities In Alaska is Bethel. Although Bethel has a much smaller population than the first two Cities, Bethel still made it on the list. With a population of only 6,642, its crime rate still exceeds the national average by over 5%.

Bethel reported high rate of sexual assaults, and last year it has reported 43 cases of rape which is the worst rate in the state.
