On Monday, a carjacker who kidnapped two ladies in North Texas while trying to elude and escape from law enforcement was given a 30-year prison sentence.
What Happened?
In September 2022, thirty-six-year-old Anthony Scott Gordon pled guilty to charges of kidnapping, carjacking, and brandishing a firearm during a violent felony.
Gordon said that he approached a parked Ford F150 on Interstate 20 in Fort Worth on August 6, 2020, carrying a rifle in each hand. He pointed one rifle at the driver and discharged the other into the street. Gordon drove off in the car while the driver fled, fearing for her life.
Four days later, Gordon broke into a Richardson store through a back door, pointing a gun at a worker and demanding her car, which was parked outside. She handed him the keys out of terror for her own life. Gordon got into the car and sped off, threatening to shoot the employee if she called the police.

Later that month, Gordon kidnapped a woman who refused to leave her location in order to prevent her from reporting him to the authorities. According to court documents, he used a revolver to strike her in the head and destroyed her iPhone with his bare hands.
According to court records, Gordon took hold of her by the neck, threatened her with a revolver, and held her at gunpoint while she was escorted to the front of the house, where the police were waiting. After managing to escape, she dashed out the front door and encountered the police.
A stolen Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun and a Smith & Wesson 40 caliber handgun were discovered by police during a search of his car.
