Millions of Americans Receive Government Checks through Earned Income Tax Credit
According to iHeart, this week millions of Americans are receiving stimulus checks from the government called the Earned Income Tax Credit. This credit helps families and individuals with low and moderate incomes by providing them with some cash. The amount of money you get depends on your income and the number of children you have.
For example, if you are an individual making less than $17,640 or a joint filer making less than $24,210 you could receive up to $600. Families with one child could get up to $3,995, while those with two children could receive up to $6,604. Families with three or more children could get up to $7,430. These amounts are based on your income and whether you are filing as an individual or jointly.

To qualify for the stimulus checks you must be a U.S. citizen with a valid Social Security number not be filing a form 2555 to report foreign income and have less than $11,000 in investment income. You must also file form 1040 or 1040-SR as well as a Schedule EIC form if you have children. If you are eligible you can use the IRS website calculator to see how much you could receive. The only downside is that you won’t get your entire tax refund until February but if you filed for the credit last year you should be receiving your check soon.
