10 Most Dangerous Cities in Nevada
Reno
Reno has a lot of crime. It is north of Las Vegas and close to Lake Tahoe. They kept track of 1,419 dangerous crimes in 2022. Based on the number of people that’s bigger than Las Vegas. It’s 27.75 crimes per 1,000 people which is a lot more than the national average.
Sin City
Vegas also called “Sin City,” is the biggest and most dangerous city in Nevada. They said there were 8,854 strange violent crimes in 2022. This includes thefts, fight, and worse crimes. Violent crime is 28.21 times more likely to happen there than in any other place, or 1 in 190.
North Las Vegas
There is crime in North Las Vegas. In 2022, almost 2,000 crimes were committed such as attack and theft. With a crime rate of 21.19 per 1,000 people it’s higher than the national average even though it’s not as big as Las Vegas. The good news is that it has been going down since 2018.
Elko
The small town of Elko is located between Reno and Salt Lake City. It is a very dangerous place to live. In 2022, when the population was less than 25,000, there were 34.48 serious crimes per 1,000 people. More fun than Las Vegas and Reno. Not what a small town would expect.
Sparks
Sparks, which is east of Reno, has city-level crime. In 2022, 450 serious crimes happened in Nevada’s fifth-largest city. It was bigger than Elko, but there were not as many killings there. In Reno, people make less than in Sparks.
Henderson
Nevada’s second-biggest city is Henderson is growing quickly.That year, there were 543 serious crimes which was less than Nevada’s. With 17.13 crimes per 1,000 people, it’s ranked fourth, which is good considering how quickly it’s grown.
Winnemucca
Crime is higher than expected in Winnemucca, a town in the sand hills. It has a lot of property crime. In 2022, they had 204 crimes more than Sparks and Henderson.
Carlin
The crime rate in Carlin, a small town between Elko and Winnemucca is shockingly high. In 2022, there were 15 serious crimes in a town of about 2,500 people. For a small town,two times the national rate is a lot.
Lovelock.
Lovelock is a small town northeast of Reno that has a lot of violence. In 2022, there were 6 serious crimes in a town of 1,800 people. This is a big deal for a small town. Less crime is a good sign for the future.
Mesquite
Mesquite is a small town between Arizona and Utah that has casinos. Even though it doesn’t have the worst crime rate in Nevada. Because the town is so big 20 women were raped there in 2022. That’s how complicated the link is between tourists and crime.
