Off-duty police are seen addressing the lady who opened fire at Joel Osteen’s megachurch on February 11 in body camera footage that was made public on Monday.
What Happened?
Video from two cops who were at Lakewood Church was made available by Houston police. A Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy’s video was also made public.
In the footage, people—including kids—can be seen fleeing the gunfire as police officers rushed to the scene. Shots rang out from the ceiling and walls of the over 17,000-seat megachurch.
An officer can be heard ordering someone to “put the weapon down, now,” just before he pulls a gun. “She might have a bomb,” a second officer said. There are sounds of the gunman, Genesse Ivonne Moreno, 36, threatening to “blow up” the chapel.

When the shooting started, the off-duty police were handling security at the church. The 36-year-old lady was shot and killed by them. She was carrying an assault-style gun. She brought her 7-year-old son, whose head wound from the bullet is still in serious condition. How he was struck has not been confirmed by the authorities.
Investigators are still attempting to ascertain Moreno’s motivation, according to Houston Police. She lawfully bought the AR-style gun she used in December, according to Houston Police Commander Christopher Hassig.
