John Bolton, who used to be National Security Advisor, has made a strong case for Congress to quickly help Ukraine in its ongoing war with Russia. In an interview with radio host John Catsimatidis on WABC 770 AM’s “Cats Roundtable,” Bolton stressed how important it was for the US to help stop Russia from declaring win.

Bolton said he thought the fight between Russia and Ukraine might not get as much attention in the US as other world events, like the war in Gaza. Bolton stressed how important it was by saying, “If we don’t help the Ukrainians, Russia will win in the end.” We should do a better job, in my opinion.

He also said that there needed to be a complete plan and asked lawmakers in both the House and the Senate to put pressure on President Biden to find a way to work with Ukraine that would be successful. Bolton told officials that they should not only figure out how to keep Ukraine from losing, but also how to help it win in the end.

Even though the Biden administration has sent military aid to Ukraine, more money is hard to come by because the GOP is split. Some Republicans say that making more financial promises is bad because it costs money and makes the party less united. Also, calls from Republicans to connect spending on Ukraine with costs for border patrol have made Democrats more worried, which makes it harder for Congress to agree to give more aid.

Bolton talked about the current state of the Ukrainian military, which is stuck in a standstill with Russia because of the winter, which has slowed down fighting. The failure of Ukraine’s late-summer counteroffensive has made people less eager for help from other countries.

Bolton said he was worried that Ukraine might lose American backing and asked for ways to give the country the extra military help it needs. He talked about a growing worry: a political win for Russia that could lead to a deal that lets Russia keep illegally taking over land in eastern Ukraine.

“I think we’ve got to be very concerned about a Russian diplomatic offensive that tries to win over at the bargaining table with the Russian troops but can’t win on the battlefield,” Bolton said. He stressed the need to be ready and said that something like this could happen at any time. This showed how important it is to stay alert as global situations change.
