Details Emerge in Cameron Hopkins’ Alleged Kidnapping and Murder of Khaliyah Jones

Cameron Hopkins, a 20-year-old man, is accused of a series of crimes in multiple jurisdictions in the Atlanta metro area, including kidnapping and murder. According to Atlanta News First, the incident in question unfolded on July 16, when Hopkins kidnapped his ex-girlfriend, 19-year-old Khaliyah Jones, from her workplace at a WingStop in Fayetteville, Georgia. A witness reported seeing Hopkins accost Jones with a weapon and forcibly taking her into his red Camaro.

Law enforcement quickly pursued the fleeing vehicle and eventually cornered it at Lovejoy High School using a PIT maneuver. Shots were fired during the confrontation, resulting in Jones being found dead from a gunshot wound. Hopkins was apprehended after officers deployed irritants into his vehicle.

During the arrest, officers can be heard attempting to coax Hopkins out of the car, and he can be seen wiping tears from his eyes. He claimed that Jones had shot herself, but officers believe it was him who fired the fatal shot. It is revealed that prior to this incident, Hopkins had already kidnapped Jones once before and was out on bond for related charges, including terroristic threats and aggravated assault.
