With a rate of 95.53 per 10,000 residents and a total of 653 reported violent crimes, Waterloo, which has a population of 68,358, tops the list for overall violent crime.

Six murders and non-negligent manslaughters, 84 rapes, 65 robberies, and 498 aggravated assaults were all recorded by the FBI. This all contribute to Waterloo being one of the most dangerous cities in Iowa.

  1. Keokuk

Keokuk ranks second in the most dangerous cities in Iowa with a staggering rate of 87.30 per 10,000 residents, despite having a population of only 10,767.

Although there aren’t many murders or robberies in the town, the number of rapes and severe assaults is very high for the population. According to Only In Your Sate, there were 89 aggravated assaults, 4 rapes, 1 robbery, and 0 murders and non-negligent manslaughters.

  1. Carter Lake

Carter lake is one of the most dangerous cities in Iowa despite having just 3,737 of population.

While the individual crime rates may appear to be rather low, the violent crime rate per capita, at 82.95 per 10,000 people, places it quite high.
