Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act: A Bipartisan Solution to Help Low-Income Americans Get Internet Access
The Affordable Connectivity Program helps low-income Americans get internet. But it’s running out of money. The Federal Communications Commission thinks it will be out of money by April.
Both Republicans and Democrats in Congress are working together to get more money. They introduce the Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act. It would give $7 billion to help pay for internet for people who needs it. The program gives a $30 discount on the monthly internet bill. It also gives a one-time $100 discount on a laptop or tablet. People who make less than 200% of the federal poverty level can get help or if they’re in another federal program like SNAP – Medicaid or Federal Housing Assistance.

Importance of Internet Access: A Necessity for Education, Healthcare, and More
The program helps a lot of people. For example, military families – old people families with kids and college students. Without the internet people can’t get education and healthcare or other important things. Lawmakers want Congress to give more money to the program. They say it’s really important for people to have internet.
