Tragedy struck in Miami Beach as an escaped inmate from New Hampshire, identified as 29-year-old Darien Young, met a fatal end in a Victoria’s Secret store. According to the reports, a police officer shot Young on Thursday night after he menaced two women with a knife. Although taken to a nearby hospital, Young succumbed to his injuries, leaving no other casualties.
As reported by AP News, the unfortunate incident took place shortly after Young had been listed as an escapee on July 21. Having departed the grounds of a minimum-security transitional housing unit in Manchester, New Hampshire, he failed to return, prompting authorities to label him as a fugitive. His previous incarceration was related to charges of receiving stolen property, burglary, drug-related offenses, and falsifying physical evidence. As reported by the corrections department, Young’s parole eligibility was slated for July 31, with a maximum release date set for January 31, 2028.
