A Red Oaks teacher is facing firing after being accused of child sexual abuse, prostitution before the age of 18, and trafficking. She is now on administrative leave.
What Happened?
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and her family first and foremost. I pray for her health and that she is getting the help she needs,” the Red Oak ISD Board said in a statement. On Monday evening, the Board decided to issue Gershon Caston a notice of proposed termination along with the proposal to suspend him without pay.
A combined task force detained Caston and three other people on June 20 in relation to the sex trafficking of a minor victim in Dallas. In the previous ten years, the 36-year-old Caston worked for four different North Texas school districts. Caston was approved for employment in May 2023, and ROISD claims that he will start working on August 4.
“As an incoming coach, he was asked to assist with summer strength and conditioning camps and he did so without incident,” the Red Oak ISD Board said in a statement. According to the first findings of the North Texas Trafficking Task Force investigation, the alleged offenses were perpetrated in June and July of this year, Dallas stated.

Caston’s case is connected to the disappearance of an 11-year-old girl in southern Dallas earlier this month, which prompted an Amber Alert, a source involved with the inquiry told CBS News Texas. She later turned up unharmed.
However, the Board is “moving swiftly through due process to terminate his employment and file the appropriate actions against him with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC).” The ROISD Board acknowledged that Caston had rights as a contract employee.
