Free Tax Assistance for Low-Income Coloradans with Benefits in Action
Colorado’s Taxpayer Benefit for Early Filers
According to My Prime Time News report, benefits in action helps people in Colorado fill out their tax forms for free if they don’t earn much money. They have some rules like your total household income must be less than $64,000 a year and you can’t have a business that loses money. You can call them to set up a time to get help and make sure you have all the papers you need, like your ID and income documents. They’re available on certain days until April 13, 2024. Colorado is giving back some money called TABOR refunds to people who file their taxes before April 15, 2024 and don’t owe any money to the state. Most people will get $800 and married couples will get $1,600.

To make things go smoothly, get all your papers ready before you go to get help with your taxes. If you’re married and filing taxes together, both of you need to be there to sign papers. It’s also better not to wait until the last minute to file your taxes because doing it earlier is better.
