Gov. Greg Abbott’s fundraising efforts have yielded impressive results, as he recently announced raising over $15 million in just 12 days during the latter part of June.
Abbott’s Fundraising Soars
Abbott’s fundraising feat surpasses the amounts he collected after previous legislative sessions following statewide elections, highlighting the strong support he has garnered, Yahoo reported.
During regular legislative sessions, state officials and lawmakers are prohibited from engaging in fundraising activities. However, this restriction was lifted on June 19 this year, granting officials a 12-day window to gather funds before the reporting period concluded.
The latest filing deadline for these contributions is on Monday, according to the Texas Ethics Commission.
Thanks to this successful fundraising push, Abbott’s fundraising campaign now boasts substantial cash on hand of over $23 million. This achievement is particularly significant as the governor had invested significant funds in Abbott’s fundraising campaign against Beto O’Rourke, his Democratic challenger in the 2022 election, ultimately winning by an 11-percentage point margin.
The $15 million was raised from a broad base of support, with more than 5,200 contributors, over 94% of whom hailed from Texas.

Abbott’s Fundraising Supporters
This overwhelming support from Texans is a testament to their belief in Abbott’s conservative agenda and his commitment to building a prosperous future for the state.
Kim Snyder, Abbott’s fundraising campaign manager, expressed gratitude for the continued support from Texans and their dedication to advancing the governor’s vision for Texas.
In a somewhat unconventional move, Abbott’s fundraising campaign also shared a commendatory quote from Tilman Fertitta, a prominent Houston billionaire and influential donor to the Texas GOP.
Fertitta expressed his unwavering support for Governor Abbott, emphasizing his commitment to ensuring that Texas remains a state characterized by freedom and opportunity.
Abbott’s fundraising success occurred during a period when lawmakers were embroiled in a special session, grappling with one of his key legislative priorities—property-tax relief. However, a deal was recently announced, and it is expected to be sent to the governor for approval by the end of the week.
Looking ahead, Abbott has indicated that he plans to call another special session in the fall to address education-related matters, including his pursuit of a “school choice” program. This program aims to empower parents by enabling them to use taxpayer funds to enroll their children in alternative education options outside of public schools.
