A man who was charged with having homemade bomb making materials in May entered a guilty plea to one count of having an unregistered handgun and one count of receiving child pornography.
Noah Robert Calderon, 22, now faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in federal prison, which would include five to 20 years for child pornography and up to 10 years for the firearms charge. At 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, he will be sentenced.
Posting Pictures Of Improvised Bombs
The FBI was made aware of several purportedly Calderon-posted Snapchat photographs in October 2022, and that is when the investigation got under way.
Calderon shared pictures of himself wearing tactical gear and holding handguns and weapons that resemble the AR-15. He also distributed memes with a Columbine theme.
He is also accused of posting pictures of improvised bombs, one of which had a marking referring to a Nazi paramilitary group.
The FBI learned in March 2023 that Calderon had set up a homemade explosive in a residential area. 911 calls were made in response to a loud concussive sound and smoke.
Following this tip, FBI agents checked Calderon’s Google account and discovered searches for the Columbine killers, the Charleston church shooter, “pipe bomb how to make,” “how to make propane bombs,” and “where [sic] were the propane bombs in Columbine,” as well as several nearby public schools.
Agents also looked into Calderon’s online shopping history, finding that he reportedly purchased a striped fuse, one pound of aluminium powder, and two pounds of potassium perchlorate. Caldron expressly acknowledged looking for information on manufacturing bombs in his plea documents.
“This defendant was immediately on the Justice Department’s radar because of his infatuation with mass murderers. We responded quickly to his legal violations, possibly preventing a violent crime, said U.S. Attorney Leigha Simonton.
Possession of child pornography was discovered as a result of the investigation into the possession of an unregistered handgun. It makes us happy to hold him responsible for both.
He Is Aware Of His Wrong Doings
Agents carried out a search warrant to Calderon’s Burleson house on April 17, 2023. They discovered there in the garage stuff including metal bbs, lead, and 659.2 grammes of explosive powder that could be used to construct and explode a bomb.
A handwritten manuscript with the label “manifesto” was discovered in his bedroom. Officials claim that it supported white nationalism and praised the Columbine shooters.
Sexually graphic videos from a video conversation between Mr. Calderon and a 13-year-old girl were discovered after a phone search. He acknowledged in his plea documents that he was aware of the child age.
