Westminster Presbyterian Church and LA Voice: A Collaborative Effort to Build Affordable Housing
The Affordable Housing on Faith Lands Act also called Yes In God’s Backyard is a big deal in California. It’s changing how affordable housing gets built. This law makes it easier for churches and schools to build affordable homes on their land. It’s a big deal in Los Angeles County because there aren’t enough affordable homes.
One group in Los Angeles that’s excited about this law is the Westminster Presbyterian Church. It’s in the middle of the city and has always cared about helping people. With this new law they see a chance to make a real difference by building homes for people who need them. They’re working with a group called LA Voice to figure out how to use the new law to build homes.
