University of Arizona is stepping up security as police look for a suspect in a series of events involving female students, including an attempted kidnapping.
According to CNN report, Assistant Chief Christopher Dennison of the Tucson Police Department talked about a number of scary events that had happened in the past week within a mile of the University of Arizona campus. Three people were hurt on December 7. One of the victims said that a male driver was following her and then grabbed her from behind. This made the offender run away when she screamed and fell to the ground. Another student said something similar happened on December 6 and that they were able to get to safety. A third victim came forward on December 11th and said they had been touched in the same place. The suspect’s description matched those seen in the other cases. The Tucson Police Department is working hard to find the suspect or suspects. To make sure the school is safe, extra security measures are being put in place, such as more checks. Chief Chris Olson of the University of Arizona Police Department told the students that they needed to pay attention, not walk around alone, and use safe ways to get around.
The University of Arizona needs to make the community more aware and make the campus safer. The Tucson Police Department is looking into charges of stalking and attack. We work with the University of Arizona Police Department to make sure that all of the students are safe. To keep people on college safe, the community should be aware, report anything that seems fishy, and work with the police.
