In an urgent UN Security Council meeting, according to South Korea News Net, Russia’s envoy strongly criticized the US and UK for their strikes on Yemen, deeming them a clear violation of the UN Charter. The diplomat stressed the disproportionate and unlawful nature of the bombings, asserting there’s no legitimate mandate for such actions.

The United States and the United Kingdom defended their Yemen strikes, citing them as a response to alleged Houthi attacks on shipping routes. The US Ambassador to the UN argued that the strikes aimed to disrupt Houthi military capabilities against vessels, while the Russian envoy accused Washington of flouting international law. As events unfold, global opinions diverge on the joint military action in Yemen. Only a handful of Western nations, including Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and South Korea, support the strikes. The Russian envoy warned of further consequences, anticipating a worsening situation in the already unstable Middle East, while criticism mounts against US President Joe Biden for not seeking congressional approval.
