New Hampshire Expands Access to Higher Education for SNAP Recipients
According to New Hampshire, doing something special to help people who get SNAP benefits find good jobs. SNAP benefits helps people who do not have a lot of money buy healthy food. Now, if you are qualified for SNAP benefits you can go to college for free! The state is working with Manchester Community College and the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation to make this happen.
Kim Runion is helping to run the program. She says, I did not think I could go to college until my company paid for me to take a class. Then I realized, I can do this! We want the people in our program to feel the same way. We want them to see they can do it and know there is help available.

New Hampshire’s Program Bridges Gap Between SNAP Recipients and Career Opportunities
The program is mostly paid for by the government. The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation also helps by giving money. The program has already helped 15 people get good jobs. They have trained to work in health care, technology or other fields. Right now there are about 45 people working with career counselors. They are learning how to write resumes and find jobs. Kim Runion hopes more people will join the program and find good jobs.
