A new trend in Texas is used in education and training across different fields. According to a report last 2022, more than half of the job offers in Texas accepts specialized licenses and credentials even without four-year degree.
Specialized Licenses And Credentials To Workforce
To assist students to enter into workforce especially those from low-income background, law makers are now trying to create shorter technical education alternatives that could meet the standards in today’s industry while still offering avenues for advanced bachelor’s degrees.
Back in 1960’s, student loans were established to help students finish their college education. However, the increasing student debts and fluctuating interest had others thought of other ways to help out students. Hence, Specialized Licenses And Credentials emerged.
This program help students to have firsthand experience, sometimes with pay, while also working for their credential. Also, working adults and parents with very little time to work on their bachelor’s degree may take this program instead.

Specialized Licenses And Credentials into Legislation
State lawmakers had begun to prioritized career preparation in public schools by aligning the current curriculum with college tracks according to the specific needs of each State.
Recently, Texas lawmakers have passed legislation that will support community colleges. Right now, Texas State Technical College is the only institution directly funded by the state through the initiatives for career and technical education.
