Canyon Lake Woman Sentenced to Prison and Ordered to Pay Restitution for Tax Fraud Scheme
Dawn Marie Munoz a woman from Canyon Lake Texas was recently sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay over $225,000 in restitution for her role in a tax fraud scheme. The 54 year old pleaded guilty to aiding and assisting in the preparation of false tax return. She had been indicted on 16 count related to her illegal tax preparation activities. According to official operated a tax preparation business where she prepared fraudulent return for her client. She convinced them to write check to pay money to the IRS that they did not actually owe stole the money and then filed false returns to cover her tracks. As a result she was sentenced to 24 months in prison and ordered to pay restitution to four of her victims.
