Raising Tennessee’s Minimum Wage: A Push for Economic Relief
Tennessee Minimum Wage: A Push for Fair Pay and Economic Stability
Tennessee minimum wage might go up from $7.25 to $20 an hour. This could happen if the General Assembly passes a new bill called HB 2602 introduce by Rep Gloria Johnson. She think it is important because many people in Tennessee cannot afford basic thing like food and rent. Johnson tried to pass a similar bill in 2020 but it did not work.
Tennessee is one of seven state without a minimum wage or with a wage lower than $7.25. Some states like Washington and Washington D.C have much higher minimum wages. Johnson think raising the wage is important because prices are going up but wages are not. She also want to help people who are grappling to make ends meet.
