For almost 25 years, a tax-free weekend continues to give savings among Texans. Since 1999, consumers can take advantage of Texas sales tax exemption holiday which usually falls in the second week of August. Save the date for your shopping schedule for more savings!

Texas Sales Tax Exemption Holiday Coming In This August

“Every dollar counts,” Kevin Lyons said in an interview from ABC when asked about Texas sales tax exemption holiday. He is currently the spokesperson of the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. He had shared how important every dollar on Texas household for savings.

He also added that since the beginning of another school year is approaching, parents should be given breaks on paying taxes on different items.

Texas Sales Tax Exemption Holiday List Of Qualified Items

The Texas sales tax exemption holiday is expected to give at least $8 savings in every $100 purchase.  A total of $136 million is the estimated overall savings for the upcoming Texas sales tax exemption holiday.

However, most of school starts earlier than this year’s sales tax holiday. That would mean that they may not able to have much savings on the school supplies.

In a post from Texas Comptroller website, they had announced that this year’s sales tax holiday will fall on August 11 to 13. Several items were listed to have tax exemption. To check the full list of tax free items, click here.
