For the period of October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024, the rates for Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (DEA) have been made public by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The type of education or training sought, as well as the degree of program enrollment or involvement, all influence these rates. Two primary factors influence rates: the type of training or education being sought and the degree of enrollment or engagement.

Rates Of VA Disability Benefits

The monthly pricing for full-time attendance in postsecondary educational institutions is $1,488 to $862, with modifications for part-time enrollment. Similar payment schedules apply to non-college degree programs, on-the-job training, and apprenticeships; monthly payments for these programs range from $1,488 to $237, contingent on training duration and level. Furthermore, qualifying individuals may be covered for more than $392 in monthly tuition and fees. On the other hand, entitlement reduction happens at a rate of one day for each $49.60 monthly payment or 1/30 of the full-time rate. It is significant to highlight that spouses are not eligible for this benefit; it is only available to children who are receiving Chapter 35 assistance.

VA Disability Lump Sum

Recipients can get a one-time payment at the start of each term or program if fees and tuition are less than the average monthly rate. However, depending on the kind of program and enrollment status, different amounts and eligibility requirements apply. Special prices and eligibility requirements apply for people wishing to receive special restorative training or correspondence instruction; monthly payments range from $1,488 to 55% of the fixed cost for completed sessions. If beneficiaries have any questions about their rates or eligibility, they can submit an online query through Ask VA or call the VA directly at 888-442-4551.
