Emotional Courtroom Scenes as “That 70s Show” Former Actor Receives Life Sentence for Rape Case: Wife Bijou Phillips Maintains Composure

Danny Masterson, known for his role in “That 70s Show,” received a life sentence with a minimum of 30 years in prison for his rape case in a Los Angeles courtroom. According to the reports, the emotional atmosphere was palpable as his wife, Bijou Phillips, and his mother, Carol Masterson, openly displayed their distress during the proceedings. Unlike her previous outburst when Masterson was convicted, Phillips managed to maintain her composure during the sentencing, and together with Masterson’s brother, Christopher, they hurriedly left the courthouse after the verdict was pronounced.

This sentencing marked a stark contrast to the events in May, when Phillips had struggled to contain her emotions upon hearing the guilty verdict, leading to a reprimand from Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo. After the recent sentencing, the victims, who had accused the former “That 70s Show” actor of two counts of forcible rape, left the courtroom in tears, with actress Leah Remini, who had been implicated by Masterson in the case, offering them solace and support.

Judge’s Stern Warning to “That 70s Show” Former Actor: Emphasizing the Criminal Nature of His Deeds in Rape Case

During the proceedings, Judge Olmedo delivered a stern message to Masterson, reminding him that he was not the victim, and his actions two decades ago had deprived another person of their choice and voice, emphasizing the criminal nature of his deeds. Throughout the reading of victim impact statements, Masterson, accompanied by his attorney Shawn Holley and flanked by guards, remained outwardly composed. Phillips, who tied the knot with Masterson in 2011, appeared somber and detached, entering the courtroom with a stoic expression. The case revolved around allegations made by two women who were former members of the Church of Scientology.
