Three suspects have been apprehended in connection with the Angeles Crest Highway killing of a man at a scenic lookout. The Pasadena police have charged the individuals with robbery but not murder, sparking interest and concern among the public.

Angeles Crest Highway Killing

The Angeles Crest Highway killing occurred in the early hours of July 22 when 32-year-old Jesse Munoz, a Los Angeles resident, was brutally murdered at mile marker 36. Munoz was accompanied by a female companion at the time of the fatal attack.

Three days after the Angeles Crest Highway killing, law enforcement executed a strategic operation, intercepting a specific vehicle occupied by armed criminal street gang members in Panorama City.

Members of the Pasadena Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Unit have stated that they have gathered evidence linking a specific criminal street gang to multiple murders and violent crimes across Los Angeles County in the past week.

At a news conference, the Pasadena police disclosed that the Angeles Crest Highway killing suspects in custody may also be connected to a separate fatal shooting at an ocean overlook in Rancho Palos Verdes, which occurred just days before the incident involving Jesse Munoz.

The victims of that shooting, Taylorraaven Whittaker, 26, and Jorge Ramos, 36, were honored in a vigil held at the scene.

Charges Faced by Angeles Crest Highway Killing Suspects

According to ABC7,  the investigation of the Angeles Crest Highway killing resulted in five arrests and the seizure of multiple firearms. Simultaneously, a sixth suspect was apprehended in South Los Angeles. However, the charges filed were for robbery, not murder.

Luis Ventura, a 23-year-old Los Angeles resident, faced two counts of robbery with handgun allegations, specifically for robbing Munoz and his female companion. His bail was set at $150,000.

Two other suspects of the Angeles Crest Highway killing, 20-year-old Wendy Cerritos, and 21-year-old Rossel Josue Hernandez, both residents of Los Angeles, were charged with multiple counts of robbery with handgun allegations.

Cerritos’s bail was set at $300,000, while Hernandez’s bail was set at $150,000.

Authorities revealed that Cerritos and Hernandez were also charged in connection with robberies that occurred on Angeles Crest Highway during the week preceding Jesse Munoz’s murder.
