While serving as a security guard at the Fort Worth Community Credit Union on Brentwood Stair Road after hours, Brent Brown, a deputy with the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, was shot on Monday.
What Happened?
Just before 4 p.m., there was a shooting, and when the police arrived, they discovered that bullets had broken the glass of the company’s front door.
When MedStar emergency response personnel arrived, they discovered that Brown had two gunshot wounds—one in his upper chest, one in his lower belly. He was brought to JPS Hospital. He had surgery thereafter, and he should recover well.
The culprit, his method of discovery, or even the reason behind their search in the neighborhood where he was apprehended remained a mystery to the Fort Worth police. Police have not officially identified Leland Williams, 35, as a suspect in the incident, but prison records indicate he was arrested for attempted murder.

Brown reportedly returned fire, according to Waybourn, although he did not “know how many or what the situation was.”
Chief of Police Neil Noakes of Fort Worth said, “When an officer is violently injured like this, it hits close to home. We ask for prayers from the public.”
Reporter Jason Allen of CBS News Texas was informed by a man whose wife works as a teller at the bank union that she saw the shooting.
“Law enforcement expects no less from any of our officers than Brent did today—he stood his ground, carried out his duties, and displayed the nobility of his actions. However, he accomplished it successfully and ascended to the nobility with bravery and distinction “Waybourn said. “Evil walks boldly among us and we must not forget that.”
Since 2011, Brown has worked for the sheriff’s office. At the moment, he works in the warrant section. Law enforcement officers are still interviewing witnesses and going over camera footage.
