A California woman went viral in social media for claiming she had won the $1.08 Billion jackpot for Powerball. Prior to the California woman’s claims, a store had initially announced that they were able to sell the $1.08 Billion jackpot. The claim was confirmed to be false. False claims in California can be subjected to Felony charges according to the State Law.

California Woman Claimed She Had Won Powerball Jackpot
A report from Market Realist and Yahoo had featured a California woman claiming that she had won the $1.08 Billion jackpot for Powerball. She was seen inside a California store hugging other shoppers while screaming “I’m scared right now. I’m so scared”. She eventually collapsed in front of the store.
On the same day, a representative from Las Palmitas Mini Market confirmed with Statement the California woman circulating on the internet claiming that she had won was in fact not true.
” She didn’t win — I guess she just wanted to be on TV”, Sarai Palacios, the representative from Las Palmitas Mini Market said in an interview.

California Woman May Be Charged With Felony
In California, claiming winning tickets can be a lengthy process. It will need the presence of the Staff and law enforcements. The verification will also take time. Security footage for the actual buying of the ticket will be analyzed.
