Seaford, Wilmington, And Laurel Are Among The Hazardous Cities In Delaware

SOURCE– First on the list of hazardous cities in Delaware is Seaford. Seaford has a crime rate of 177% higher than the national average, an alarmingly high rate for a small city with a population of only 8,145. In 2022, a total of 530 crimes were reported in the city, 88 of which were violent crimes and 442 were property crimes. Aside from the alarmingly high crime rate, the residents also suffer from a poverty rate of 27%.

Second on the list of hazardous cities in Delaware is Wilmington. Wilmington, which is the largest city in Delaware, unfortunately experiences a high crime rate, which is 125% higher than the national average. In 2022, a total of 3,713 crimes were reported in the city. With 1,115 violent crime incidents and 2,598 property crime incidents, it’s only reasonable for Wilmington to be on the list of cities in Delaware that you should avoid.

Third on the list of cities in Delaware you should avoid is Laurel. Laurel, with its small population of 4,431, has a crime rate that is 106% higher than the national average. In 2022, a total of 215 crimes were reported in the city. 20% of the residents of Laurel are also living below the poverty line.

Millsboro And Georgetown Found Their Way On The List Of Hazardous Cities In Delaware To Avoid This Year

Millsboro is fourth on the list of hazardous cities in Delaware that you should steer clear of. Millsboro, despite its small population, has 48.9 property crime rates. Violent crime is pretty low in this small city, but it is far from nonexistent. Theft happens twice as often as the national average in Millsboro.

The fifth and final city on the list of cities in Delaware you should avoid is Georgetown. Georgetown, with its population of 7.56K residents, experiences high property crime rates for such a small town. According to House Grail, like Millsboro, theft is also a common occurrence in Georgetown, with Georgetown’s theft rates being higher than the national average. Georgetown’s violent crime rate is also higher than most of the cities in Delaware.
