A 57-year-old former doctor faces serious charges of rape and sexual battery and could potentially face a life sentence in prison, according to a spokesperson from the prosecutor’s office, True Crime Daily reported.

Former Doctor Indicted on Felony Rape and Sexual Battery Charges
Mahmud Kara, a former doctor once hailed as a ‘lifetime achiever,’ now finds himself in the midst of a legal battle after being indicted by a jury.
Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Walsh announced on July 12 that former doctor Kara is facing one count of first-degree felony rape and one count of third-degree felony sexual battery.
These charges stem from an alleged incident that took place in April, where former doctor Kara is accused of sexually assaulting a young woman at his residence on Fox Trace Lane.
This is not the first encounter former doctor Kara has had with legal trouble.
In a separate case from 2018, former doctor Kara pleaded guilty to four counts of fifth-degree felony possession of criminal tools. As a result of his guilty plea, former doctor Kara was required to surrender his medical license in Ohio.
In addition, he was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay a $2,500 fine.

Former Doctor Could Face Life Sentence
If convicted, former doctor Kara could potentially face a life sentence in prison, according to a spokesperson from the prosecutor’s office who spoke with the Akron Beacon Journal.
The State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy, along with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Ohio State Medical Board, conducted an undercover investigation, discovering that former doctor Kara had reportedly violated the Ohio code by improperly prescribing weight-loss medications over a period of five years.
Ironically, according to PR Newswire just months before the recent accusations, former doctor Kara was recognized as a “lifetime achiever” by Continental Who’s Who in October 2021.
Former doctor Kara received this prestigious acknowledgment for his work at his company KaraMD, which specializes in the sale of natural remedies and supplements.
