First on the list of the most dangerous cities in Rhode Island is Providence. Providence, the state capital of Rhode Island, unfortunately has the 2nd highest rate of violent crime and the 1st highest rate of property crime in the state.
Providence’s crime rate per square mile is roughly ten times that of Rhode Island. Because of the city’s high violent and property crime rates, it is no surprise that Providence found its way on top of the list of the most dangerous cities in Rhode Island.
Coming second on this list of the most dangerous cities in Rhode Island is Woonsocket. Woonsocket, located near the border of Massachusetts, also suffers from a high crime rate, both in property and violent crimes. According to Only in Your State, there are 1 in 169 chances of you being a victim of violent crime in the city as of 2018. With Woonsocket’s violent crime rate being more than twice the state average, it is justifiable to put the city on the second spot on the list of the most dangerous cities in Rhode Island.

Central Falls And Newport Are The Last Cities To Complete This List Of The Most Dangerous Cities In Rhode Island
Third on the list of the most dangerous cities in Rhode Island is Central Falls. Central Falls, a city located in the northern Rhode Islands, has a crime rate eight times higher than the state average for Rhode Island, despite its 1.27 square miles, the smallest in Rhode Island.
Last on the list of the most dangerous cities in Rhode Island is Newport, located along Narragansett Bay, which has a violent crime rate slightly higher than the state average. According to Travel Safe Abroad, property crime in Newport is 40% higher than any other Rhode Island place.
